Peter Murdoch became joint tenant of Holehouse and Boreland at Martimas 1861. On the 14th April 1872 he married Agnes Patterson, youngest daughter of James Paterson (Merchant in Old Cumnock).
On the termination of the lease at Holehouse and Boreland they removed in 1876 to the farm of Glendrishaig, in the parish of Ballantrae. At the expiry of the Glendrishaig lease in 1892 they removed to Stranraer having resolved to retire from farming 'as their previous success in farming had enabled them to do'. In 1893 they removed to Ayr. He died in Ayr on the 21st March 1914 and his wife died soon after in Ayr on the 15th May 1914.
