William married a Margaret Austin. He followed the weaving trade and had a large family, mostly daughters. Anne; James; Jane; Helen; Mary; Margaret; Agnes and Marion. He lived in Piperston where his family were born. He died at Brae about 1852. His son James drowned in the River Ayr on 1st December 1835, at the age of 15.
