2. James Knox (born 'Barbeth' 17th January 1844). His father
came from Barbeth and his auntie was Mrs Knox of Barbeth. James
married Agnes Mair (born 12th August 1851) (from Ballochbeatties
just south of Loch Braden) on the 30th November 1871 at Stair.
James worked as a Head Gamekeeper and bought Woodside Farm, Monkton
in 1888. He died on 22nd March 1917 at Woodside and his wife
Anes died at Craigpark Farm, Saltcoats (the home of her daughter
Margaret) on 10th December 1939.
